Symposium: Trends and Future Requirements in Automotive Electronics
The Indian automotive sector is one of the largest growth markets
of the next decade. More and more Indians, especially in large urban centers,
are profiting from the booming Indian economy and investing in motor vehicles.
As a result, traditional Indian automobile and motorcycle manufacturers, their
international counterparts and globally active suppliers are expecting sales to
continue increasing.
Where is this market headed technologically? Automobiles of all sizes are
equipped with more and more electronic systems to deal with the universal need
to preserve the environment and reduce fuel consumption. And car
owners are always interested in new technologies for enhanced comfort,
security, information or communication. This symposium gave insight into
automotive electronics from an Indian perspective including the technical
and socio-economic trends that are intrinsically linked to the world of modern
mobility.
The symposium took place on September 09, 2009 and covered the
following topics:
- Components and systems for enhanced safety
- Components and systems relating to comfort
- Infotainment and telematics
- Novel drive systems & fuel concepts / hybrid solutions
- Engine management / fuel effi ciency / eco-friendliness
- Power-train electronics
- Bus systems and programming issues
- On- and off-board diagnostics
- Advanced lighting solutions
- Challenges for electronics in future low-cost cars
The Symposium Committee decided on the acceptance of the
proposed lectures. The committee members are: A. Dube, ST
Microelectronics; V.G. Gujrathi, Tata Motors Ltd.; M. Sabarwal, MMI
India Pvt. Ltd.; A. Chandak, NXP; R.K. Shenoy, Robert Bosch India; K.U.
Subbaiah, Tyco Electronics; T.P. Tan, Infineon Technologies Asia
Pacific; V. Rabde, Chheda Electricals & Electronics and Lutz Rose
from the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’
