PROCEDURE FOR GETTING A VISA
Please
fill up the visa application form completely, stating clearly the
purpose of the visit to India. Kindly submit the completed visa form
along with two passport-size photographs, support documents (this is necessary for certain kinds of visas as for example business visas) and the visa fee in person or by post to the Consular Wing of the Embassy of India, Berlin, or to any other embassy.
Visas
for India can be obtained from the Embassy of India, Berlin or from
other Indian Consulates General in Germany, or other countries.
- Passport valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond the date of intended departure from India should accompany visa applications.
- Paste one photo and staple the other one on the form at specified place.
Documents required for visa extension:
Original documents
- Passport / Travel Document
- Residence Permit
- PIO Card etc.
Photocopy
- Front page and visa page of passport.
- Relevant pages of Residence Permit having last extension.
- Other relevant documents for particular category of visa e.g.
- Bonafide Certificate and Identity card for student visa.
- Company letter and terms & conditions for business / employment visa.
- For Research visa – approval of research project from the Nodal Ministry.
The duration of stay in India, for each visit on a tourist visa or business visa, is only for a period of 6 months even though a valid visa may be for more than 6 months.
Validity of all visas is counted from the date of their issue.
MISCELLANEOUS VISA INFORMATION
Conference visa
are issued for attending conferences / seminars / meetings in India. A
letter of invitation from the organiser of the conference is to be
submitted along with the visa application. Delegates coming to attend
conferences may combine tourism with attending conferences.
Tourist visa is given for 6 months normally,
rest specifically depends on the country of residence. The applicant is
required to produce/submit documents in proof of his financial
standing. Tourists travelling in groups of not less than four members
under the auspices of a recognised travel agency may be considered for
grant of collective tourist visa.
The visa fee structure depends on the nationality of the passport holder and type / duration of visa applied.
Visa
fees indicated in US$ are payable in local currencies as well. Visa
fees are not refundable except in cases where a visa already issued is
cancelled thereafter.
The prescribed visa fee can be paid
either in cash, postal money order or crossed Eurocheque with the
application. Please do not send cash by post.
Applicants may
deposit the visa fees in the respective Post Bank Accounts maintained
by the Embassy and its Consulates General as per the details given
below. However, in case the money is directly transferred to the
Postbank Account,
(Original bank remittance slip etc /
transferslip with the stamp of the bank) must be enclosed with the visa
application to avoid delays in verifying the receipt of the payment.
